How Life Map works

Your life, in two landscapes.

Life Map is a quiet, private canvas for the story only you can tell. On one side you place the things that happened to you; on the other, the things they made of you. Then you draw lines between them — and watch a list of memories become a map you can actually see.

L
External The outer journey — places, people, milestones, hard seasons, brave leaps.
R
Internal The inner landscape — realizations, values, healing, strengths, peace.

The fine print, in plain words

Questions,
answered.

Think of it as a visual journal you can see. The page is split into two calm halves. On the left you drop the moments that happened out in the world; on the right, the meaning those moments left inside you. Each one becomes a soft card — a landmark — and you can connect them with little threads. There’s no right way to fill it and no limit on how much you write. It’s yours, at your pace.

Getting started

External is the footage: the city you moved to, the job that burned you out, the person who saw you, the sunrise walk that became a ritual. Internal is what the footage taught your soul: I am allowed to rest. My boundaries are sacred. Peace is not laziness. The glowing line down the middle is where the two meet — the place an outer event quietly becomes an inner truth.

Getting started

Three easy ways: double-click (or tap) the side it belongs to, hit the Add Landmark button up top, or pick a gentle prompt from the Prompts drawer. A card opens — give it a title, write as much or as little reflection as you like, then choose a colour, a little symbol, an age or date, and how deeply it landed (the stars). Save, and it’s on the canvas, ready to be dragged wherever it feels right.

Getting started

They’re the part that turns a list into a story. Click the little link icon on any landmark, then click the one it connects to, and give the thread a phrase — taught me, healed by, gave rise to, revealed. Watching an outer hardship draw a glowing line straight to an inner strength you didn’t know you had is, for a lot of people, the moment the whole map clicks.

Making meaning

Really not. There’s nothing to sign up for and nothing to log into. Life Map saves itself directly into your browser’s private memory the moment you change a single letter, so you can close the tab mid-sentence and pick up exactly where you left off — days or weeks later. The little green Auto-Saved Locally pill at the top is your receipt.

Saving & privacy

Yes — in the strongest sense. Your words never travel to a server; they live only on the device you wrote them on, which means no one else can read them, not even us. The honest flip side of that privacy is that we can’t recover them for you either, so treat the Download menu as your safety net: grab a backup file now and then, the way you’d back up a photo you love.

Saving & privacy

The map works beautifully on a phone — but because it saves to each device’s own browser, your laptop’s map doesn’t automatically appear on your phone. The bridge between them is the backup file: on the laptop, hit Download → Download Progress File; on the phone, open Storage Details → Open / Restore File and pick that file up. Thirty seconds, and your whole story moves with you.

Devices

Both, and more. The Download menu will render your entire two-realm canvas as a crisp PNG poster, send a clean PDF memoir to your printer, or save the editable backup file. There’s also a Story Book view that lays your landmarks out as chapters — lovely on screen, even lovelier on paper.

Devices

Staring is allowed — a blank page is just an invitation, not a test. If you want a nudge, open Prompts and let a gentle question choose the first landmark for you. If you’d rather see a finished map before you build your own, the menu’s Fill with an Example Journey drops a guided sample onto the canvas in one click. Or skip both and start with the single moment that changed you most; the rest tends to follow.

Getting started

Not in the clinical sense, and we’d never pretend otherwise. Life Map is a reflective companion — a calm place to lay your story out and look at it with kindness, and many people find that genuinely clarifying and grounding. It’s meant to sit alongside professional support, not replace it. If you’re in real pain or crisis right now, please reach out to a qualified professional or a local crisis line; you deserve a human in the room, and this page will still be here when you’re ready.

Wellbeing

A small 4‑7‑8 grounding exercise you can open whenever the writing brings up more than you expected. Breathe in for four, hold for seven, out for eight, and let the circle widen and soften with you. There’s no score and nothing to finish — it’s just a quiet way to stay present with yourself while you map.

Wellbeing

Life Map is built and offered freely by Athlete Legacy as a mental-health and self-reflection companion — because the people who’ve carried the most, on a field or off it, are often the ones who never got a quiet place to set it all down. This is ours to you. Write gently.
